Thirty-five family members gathered at Lake Shawnee Shelter #3 in Topeka for the 79th Annual Shehi Reunion of descendants of John and Mary McDonald Shehi. After a welcome by President Tom Shehi, Vice President Rose Wrede led the group in prayer. A group picture was taken followed by a potluck meal.
President Tom Shehi called the meeting to order. The meeting began with family introductions and the recognition of military, fire and police members. A moment of silence was observed for deceased family members. Minutes were read and the cooks were complimented.

Youngest in attendance: Elaina Faye Norton, 8 months
Oldest in attendance: Dale Webster, 89, he recalled that his family drove a 1928 Chrysler to the 1939 reunion
Largest family: Daniel and Erika Brown – 5 daughters and 1 grandson

New Business
80th Annual Reunion next year. Vice President Rose volunteered to form an 80th celebration committee to plan special events for the second weekend in June. Suggestions included: setting up a barbeque grill, additional events or trips on Saturday, commemorative tee shirts, bringing our favorite Irish blessing, mailing ‘save the date’ cards in January. Dan Turley, Lisa Albright and Lori Parker volunteered to help. The picnic and meeting will be held at the same location, Lake Shawnee Shelter #3 on Sunday, June 10. Special events may be scheduled for the Saturday before.
Officers will remain the same for another year – Tom Shehi, president; Rose Wrede, vice president; Pat Shehi, secretary treasurer.
